Our 2026-27 School Year Projects
Book Project
Our first project was the book project - reading books about anti-racism, equity, and inclusion to younger Vermont students statewide. This project was started on the belief that racism is driven by mindsets, and by fostering inclusive mindsets early on, we can address racist incidents in older classrooms and society. Middle and high school VSARN organizers read the books and design the accompanying lessons, oftentimes reading to students (even younger siblings!) in their own communities!
Policy Project
VSARN has engaged with policy work across the board, from writing bills to testifying in the Statehouse to organizing advocacy events. Our specific advocacy campaign for this year is still in the works, and we want any student who is interested to help us design and implement it! We believe that students should be empowered to speak up in places of power - and as students ourselves, we are making that happen.
